Pairing Comments
Bourbon helped tame the spicy notes in the cigar and brought out a nice creamy caramelized tasting note on the palate. However, the pairing wasn't completely balanced and overall the bourbon and cigar contrasted one another more than compliment.
Final Thoughts
This is a very well made, quality cigar. There were some burn issues that required a few touch ups, however, nothing that would cause the smoker any real trouble. Tastes were an interesting mix of spice/pepper, creamy chocolate mousse, nuttiness, and a chewy meaty opening. Medium/Full in strength and medium in body. Ash was a wonder white with grey mixed throughout and aroma rich and pleasant. Draw was spot on. I enjoyed this cigar and certainly want to try some of the other sizes in HVC Hot Cake line, but it is not box-worthy at this time.
